Your Guide to Navigating North Star Dancesport 2026: Arrival & Parking Updates
Important: Major construction is heavily affecting both the interior and the surrounding roads of the Hamilton Convention Centre.
We are thrilled to welcome you to the 4th Annual North Star Dancesport this weekend, October 23-24! All competition events and the evening gala will be hosted on the third floor of the Hamilton Convention Centre. Due to ongoing downtown roadwork, we want to ensure your arrival is as seamless as possible.
Pedestrian Access & Venue Navigation Because the convention centre is physically attached to the FirstOntario Concert Hall, Jackson Square, and the Ellen Fairclough Building, navigating between the parking garage and the main halls currently requires detours and extra time.
Arrival Recommendations
Arrive Early: Please factor in extra transit and walking time to navigate the detours and reach the 3rd-floor ballroom before your scheduled events.
Use Indoor Walkways: We highly recommend utilizing the pedestrian walkways connected through Jackson Square to enter the building comfortably from the inside.
Alternative Parking: To avoid the construction gridlock on Summers Lane, consider utilizing alternative downtown parking lots a few blocks away from the venue.
The Stage is Set on the 3rd Floor All competition events and the spectacular evening gala will be hosted exclusively on the third floor of the Hamilton Convention Centre. Once you enter the building, simply head straight up to the third level to find our welcome desk and the ballroom.
Important Parking & Construction Updates Major construction is currently affecting the surrounding roads of the Hamilton Convention Centre. The City of Hamilton is executing a massive rehabilitation of the Summers Lane Municipal Parking Garage, meaning Summers Lane is closed to through-traffic and drop-off laybys are actively being altered.
Crucial Parking Note: The main garage entrance on Summers Lane is completely closed. All guests driving to the venue must bypass Summers Lane and use the King Street West entrance to access the parking garage.
Exciting Facility Enhancements Despite the exterior roadwork, the Hamilton Convention Centre is fully open and actively operational. The venue is undergoing an extensive interior modernization by HUPEG and Carmens Group designed to elevate the guest experience. As you navigate the space, you may notice these exciting upgrades taking shape, which include expanded event spaces and a brand new wine and coffee bar.
Safe travels, and we cannot wait to see you on the dance floor!
